What does a Reiki session look like?

Before:

It’s helpful to set a personal intention for the session. Whether it’s emotional healing, stress relief, or physical pain reduction, having a clear focus can help guide the energy during the session.

Wear loose, comfortable clothing to allow for relaxation. It’s also best to avoid wearing restrictive accessories like belts or heavy jewelry.

Drink plenty of water before the session, as energy work can stimulate the body's natural detoxification processes. Staying hydrated supports this.

Approach the session with an open mind and no rigid expectations. Every experience is different, and Reiki works on subtle levels that may or may not be immediately perceptible.

If you have scheduled a Zoom session, ensure you have downloaded Zoom prior and have good internet connection.

During:

At the start of our session, we’ll take a few minutes to talk about any concerns or areas you'd like to focus on. Reiki is deeply nourishing and rejuvenating, the energy will naturally flow where it’s needed most, helping to uplift your body, mind, and spirit.

When I start channeling Reiki, I’ll invite you to close your eyes, take a few deep breaths, and allow you to fully relax into the process. For the first few minutes, I’ll guide you through a personalized meditation, and after that, we’ll both remain silent for the rest of the session.

Some common experiences during a Reiki session include: Drifting into sleep, experiencing emotional releases, feeling warm or cold sensations, and experiencing waves of energy. Some people feel a sense of bliss, others might experience mental clarity and deep relaxation while others might feel nothing at all. All of these sensations experienced during Reiki are mild and very normal experiences. If you are sensitive to energy, you may notice the effects more strongly.

After the session, I will give you time to slowly come back to full awareness. You may feel very relaxed and need a few moments to ground yourself before getting up.

I will check in with you after the session to see how you feel and offer any insights I may have picked up during the session. You can also share your experiences or ask any questions.

It’s important to drink water afterward to help flush out any toxins or stagnant energy released during the session. Hydration supports the body's natural healing processes.

Some people experience emotional or physical shifts after a session, such as feeling lighter, more relaxed, or more energized. Others may feel tired or more introspective as their body continues to process the energy.

Reiki continues to work for several days after the session. You may notice subtle changes in your mood, thoughts, or energy levels over time. Pay attention to how you feel and allow yourself space to integrate these shifts.
